This interactive graphic and map from CNN effectively illustrates where revolutions and protests have occurred in the Middle East and Africa regions. Each picture shows a specific country in the region and has a caption that and lists facts, updates and how long the ruler or dictator has been in charge.

The page also has text and updates that help further readers’ understanding of the situations. The sections called roots of unrest offer some explanations of what started or caused the protests.
